I am going to start to write things about our mission that I didn't put in our letters home. First of all Tom Peacock called today and left a message on our message machine. He wanted to thank Grant and I for the flowers that we sent for Lilian's funeral. I feel so bad for him. He misses her so much and I am sure is very lonely. He has a couple of sons and Lilian has a couple of daughters, but he is not that close to his sons. I think that Lilian's daughter will look after him. She lives just a few miles away and he raised her. Tom and Lilian were such a cute couple and we loved them so much. It pains us to see Tom is such sorrow. He doesn't have the gospel in his life and I really don't know what he thinks about God and death. Don't get me wrong these people were the best that you could find. Such kind, good hearted people. They would give you the shirt of their backs. Tom is 82 yrs old and now lives alone.
I can tell you that we couldn't had better neighbors or friends. We would talk to them almost every day and they would watch our bungalow when we to the temple, and we would watch their house when they went on vacation. We just had a wonderful relationship with them. Tom was so willing to help Grant with anything that needed to be done. He even took us to the train station we we flew home for Tom and Shannon's wedding. He also picked us up.
We were just so glad that we got to know them and love them. We miss them and realize that we will probably never Tom again.

Sharon Orchard and her daughter Leah. I loved them. They lived in Darlington and moved to Newton Aycliffe just before we came home from our mission. Sharon was a great help to the missionaries. They are such good people.

Lilian Peacock

Today I got a call from Tom Peacock. Lilian had passed away today. I feel so sad as Lilian was such a good friend. When we arrived in Newton Aycliffe, England to serve our mission. Tom and Lilian were our next door neighbors. They were our neighbors for eighteen months. You couldn't have asked for better neighbors. Lilian would always buy me some little gift when they went on holiday. She was always asking about my family. They helped us find things and places where we needed when we first arrived. They always offer Grant their tools and if Grant didn't understand how things worked, Tom was always there to help. After we left Tom told us that they found out Lilian had Lou Gehrig's disease. She had had a couple of falls before we left but nothing serious. Since our return to the United States, Lilian has gotten worst. The last time I tried to talk to her but she could hardly talk. Tom and Lilian were the best of friends. Tom is going to be lost without her. One time he told me that he didn't like her to be gone even for the day. She would go to a cricket game with her neighbor, and she loved cricket. Tom didn't care for cricket so he would stay home. He was lost without her. You just don't see this kind of devotion to each other these days as I saw that Tom and Lilian had for each other.Grant had said that if he could he would have packed them up and brought them back with us. They were the best to us foreigners.

LeAnne and Leslie Collins the night that they were baptized. January 24, 2007. LeAnne was sixteen years old. They moved to Newton Aycliffe from South Africa. Leslie was born England.

Elder Jenkins, LeAnne, Garrett, Leslie and Elder Stuart.

Elder Echarri is from Spain. He was one of the missionaries that was there when we arrived in Newton Aycliffe. He was a good missionaries. We had a hard time understanding him at first and really had to listen to what he was saying because of his Spanish accent. He was so much fun to be around.

The Preston Temple is so beautiful. We were able to go to the temple about every six weeks. They have accommodations there for people to stay. We would stay over night and do about twelve sessions in two days. We love going to the temple.

The Preston Temple grounds are so beautiful!!

President and Sister Woodward

President and Sister Woodward are from Utah. They had 9 months left of their mission when we arrived in the mission field. They were wonderful to us. We really loved them. We feel that we had two great Mission President's and their wives. President Woodward is President of Woodward Financial in Salt Lake City.

Bolton Abbey

This was when we first arrived in the mission field. We had a couples conference and President and Sister Woodward took us to Bolton Abbey.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Grant.
This is an English couple, Elder and Sister Barnley. They sold everything to come on a mission. They are such a sweet couple. Such dedication.

Elder Stuart is from Utah and Elder Echarri is
from Spain. They were the missionaries that were
in Newton Aycliffe when we arrived. This was

their Preparation Day.

Newton Aycliffe, England

This is the car that we drove for our mission.

I am going to put things about our mission on this blog. Grant and I served our mission to the England Leeds Mission from October 2, 2006 to April 3, 2008. When we arrived in Newton Aycliffe we were provided with this lovely bungalow. The maroon car was the one that we drove from Leeds to Newton Aycliffe. We got a bigger car a couple of days later. The Zone Leaders switched with us. Couples were give the small station wagons.
